TwinChat Account Deletion
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This page explains how to delete your account and data in TwinChat, the app operated by PANG in Hong Kong. Leaving should be easy: you can delete your account in the app at any time, with no questions asked. If you cannot use the app, you can ask us by email instead.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Me › Settings › Account & sign-in and tap Delete account. If the app is in Chinese, the same path is 我的 › 設定 › 帳戶與登入 › 刪除帳戶 (Traditional) or 我 › 设置 › 账号与登录 › 注销账号 (Simplified).
- Confirm, then sign in again by choosing your Google account again or entering your password. This shows that the request comes from you. If you cancel the sign-in, nothing is deleted.
- Your account is scheduled for deletion 7 days later, and the app shows the date.
If you want a copy of your data, ask for it before you delete your account, at Me › Settings › Account & sign-in › Download my data (下載我的資料 / 下载我的数据). You can ask once every 7 days. We currently prepare the copy by hand and email it to you within the time the law requires, which can be longer than the 7-day deletion period. Wait until you have received the copy before you delete your account: we cannot prepare it after the deletion has run.
If you change your mind
During the 7 days, sign in to TwinChat and tap Cancel deletion (取消刪除 / 撤回注销). Signing in alone does not cancel the deletion. Your account and your posts come back. Location sharing, voice rooms and push notifications stay off until you turn them on again. Once the 7 days are over, the deletion cannot be undone.
Ask us without the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, email ggen6522@gmail.com with the subject "TwinChat account deletion request". If you can, write from the email address you use to sign in, and include:
- the email address of your TwinChat account and, if you know it, your TwinChat name;
- whether you want your whole account deleted or only some of your data.
Do not send passwords or verification codes, and do not send identity documents unless we ask for them. We will check that the request comes from the account holder, for example by asking you to confirm from the account's email address. We then handle the deletion by hand, confirm when it is done and tell you what we had to keep and why. If you can no longer use that email address, tell us and we will agree another reasonable way to verify you. We act only on requests from the account holder or from someone legally authorised to act for them.
What happens right away
- Location sharing stops.
- You leave any voice room. If you are the host, the room ends.
- All your devices are disconnected from push notifications.
- Other users see your account as unavailable, and your posts are no longer shown.
What we delete after 7 days
- Your map posts, including posts that have left the map, with their captions, locations, photos, videos and voice notes (see below for files kept as report evidence).
- Your likes on other people's posts.
- Your profile, profile photos and voice intro.
- Your settings, friend connections, notification settings and devices.
- Your follows (both who you follow and who follows you), your reposts and your likes on replies; your replies are removed from the posts they were under.
- Any photos and voice messages you sent in chats. You are removed from your chats, and a group you own passes to its longest-standing member.
- Your sign-in account with Firebase Authentication. We currently do this by hand after the deletion runs; until we do, Google's Firebase Authentication still holds your sign-in email address.
Your account record itself is not removed, because other records refer to it. It is renamed, its public name is cleared and it is disabled, so it cannot be used to sign in again and other users see it as a Deleted account. It still contains the identifier of your Firebase sign-in account, so it is pseudonymised rather than anonymous.
What we keep and for how long
- Messages you sent: the text stays with the people you sent it to and is shown as from a Deleted account, as do gift messages, room names and room chat. Your reactions to other people's messages and the record of which messages you had read also stay. Copies that others saved cannot be recalled.
- Short IDs: the numbers of your account, posts and replies are kept, without anything they pointed to, so they are never given to someone else; searching them finds nothing.
- Blocks: blocks you made and blocks others made against you stay, linked to the deleted account.
- Anti-abuse data for deleted posts: the location and file fingerprint of each deleted post are kept for 7 days and then cleared.
- Report evidence files: the photo, video or voice note of a post that was reported, is In review or was Removed is kept for 180 days and then deleted. The fingerprint of a file that is In review or Removed is kept so that the file cannot be posted again.
- Reports: reports you made or received, including the copy of the reported content each one contains (such as a post's caption and location, or a message's text). They are not deleted automatically at present and are kept as long as needed for safety, appeals and legal claims, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Image moderation records: the record linking your account to the fingerprint and result of each image you uploaded. For images that were rejected, held for review or could not be checked, it is deleted 90 days after the check; for approved images, it is not deleted automatically at present. You can ask us to delete it.
- Voice room removal records: kept for 30 days after the room ends.
- Coins, gifts and virtual items: your coin and gift ledgers, and the records of your wallet, outfits, decorations and avatar look, kept for accounting, disputes and safety, for as long as the law requires or allows.
- Consent and request records: your legal consent records, the record of having completed sign-up, the records of your data copy requests, and the record of this deletion request with the optional reason you gave, kept as proof, for as long as the law requires or allows.
- Emails with us: kept as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up.
- Backups: deleted media can be restored for 7 days. The database keeps 7 automatic daily backups and 7 days of recovery logs, so deleted data can remain in backups for a short time; seven backups do not always cover exactly seven days, and manual backups do not expire automatically. Backups are used only to recover from failures, never to show data in the app, and we consider them when we handle deletions.
- Data from discontinued features (the Twin AI companion, the game world, plaza posts, people browsing, super likes and boosts, from earlier versions of the app; listed in section 14 of the Privacy Policy): at present this is not deleted when your account is deleted. Email us to have it deleted, before or after you delete your account.
Delete some data and keep your account
- Delete any of your map posts from your posts on the Me tab.
- Remove profile photos when you edit your profile.
- Stop location sharing at any time from the map.
- Turn notifications off under Me › Settings › Notifications to stop push messages. To also remove your device's push token, log out or withdraw TwinChat's notification permission in your device settings.
- For anything else, including reports about you, image moderation records and data from discontinued features, email ggen6522@gmail.com and tell us what you want deleted.
If an account holder has died
If a TwinChat user has died, their next of kin or another person legally authorised to act for them can email us to ask for the account to be deleted. Please give your name and contact details, the email address or name of the TwinChat account, your relationship to the person and what you are asking for. We may ask for documents, such as a death certificate and proof that you are authorised to act; please send them only when we ask. We keep that information only as long as needed for legal obligations and disputes.
Accounts we close
We may suspend or close accounts that break the Terms of Service or the Community Guidelines, as described there. The data of an account we close is not deleted automatically at present: we keep it as long as needed for safety, appeals and legal claims, and then delete it by hand as described on this page. We do not currently close accounts because they are inactive.
